Ban appeal - 6 years later
#4
Thank you for the reply! At the time, my username was J0RDYNH, but somehow throughout the years the underscore was added; I should've clarified that, my apologies. I'm not sure if that is of any importance, but it's worth noting, I guess.

Did you give any of the materials to other players that you x-rayed? (just a yes or no is acceptable for this question)
No
Why is X-raying bad?
X-raying is harmful because it gives players who use it an unfair advantage over those who follow the rules. Instead of putting in the time and effort to gather resources legitimately, X-raying allows a player to hoard rare ores in a short amount of time. Additionally, because the server relies on a player-based economy, X-raying completely disrupts the financial balance of those who put in honest work, leading to unfair inflation. Ultimately, it is just a lazy way to play that takes away the gratification and, therefore, the fun of achieving wealth on the server for the other players and me. Finally, it is against the rules and therefore is bad to do on the server regardless.

How does X-raying affect other players?
X-raying affects other players on the server by completely devaluing their time and effort. Within a player-based economy, X-raying causes inflation, making the ores that honest players mine worth significantly less. Additionally, if I had sold these diamonds, I would have unfairly taken money from another player who worked honestly to earn their wealth. Furthermore, it depletes the area of ores, leaving fewer resources for other players to find.
How does X-raying affect the server’s economy?
X-raying affects the server's economy by causing inflation due to destroyed resource scarcity. When rare items (diamonds, netherite, etc.) are found with absolutely no effort in such a short amount of time, their market value is negatively affected. This will directly impact all players on the server, as the ores they spend hours mining legitimately become worthless. X-raying creates an uneven playing field, where honest players who follow the rules are unable to participate/compete in player shops, thereby ruining the server's financial balance.
If you really need an item what is a better way of getting it than using X-Ray?
Instead of resorting to X-ray, I will put in the honest time and effort into finding the item through legitimate gameplay methods, like strip-mining or caving. Additionally, if I am struggling to find the resource or don't feel like putting in that effort, I can participate in the server's economy and purchase the item from another player's shop. Ultimately, if a resource is difficult to obtain, I understand that its rarity is part of the game and accept that it takes time to grind for it, just like everyone else. Shortcuts like X-raying ruin the experience for everyone; now, as an adult, I understand that and would rather gain my items with integrity or go without them. I never want to hurt anyone else, and my past actions have done exactly that. I am so sorry for x-raying. I am committed to being an honest player on this server.

Thank you again for your consideration.
Jordyn
